Reconciliation and Financial Reports in Clearwater

A report is only as good as the numbers behind it. Iris reconciles every account to the statement, then gives you a profit and loss, balance sheet and cash summary you can hand to a lender with confidence. Call 678-614-4636.

A bank statement being checked against the books for account reconciliation in Clearwater

What reconciliation catches

  • Duplicate entries that make income or expenses look larger than they are
  • Bank fees, chargebacks and processor holds nobody recorded
  • Checks that never cleared, and deposits that were never recorded
  • Personal charges on the business card
  • Fraudulent or unexpected charges, caught within weeks instead of a year later

A typical example

An illustrative example, not a client testimonial. A small Clearwater restaurant applies for an equipment loan, and the bank asks for year-to-date statements. The owner's books had never been reconciled.

Iris reconciles the operating account, the credit card and the merchant processor deposits, finds chargebacks and processor fees that were never recorded, and prepares a profit and loss and balance sheet that tie to the bank statements and last year's tax return. The loan officer receives clean statements within the week.

Reports you'll get

  • Profit and loss. What you earned and spent this month and year to date, compared with last year.
  • Balance sheet. What the business owns and owes, including loans and sales tax due.
  • Cash summary. Where the money went, which explains why profit and cash don't always match.
  • Receivables aging. Who owes you and how late they are.

Iris sends a short note with each report: what changed, what to watch and anything that needs your answer. If you want, she'll walk through it with you at your business each quarter.

When you need lender-ready financials

Banks, equipment lenders and landlords usually ask for year-to-date statements and the last two tax returns. Iris prepares statements from reconciled books so the numbers agree with your returns.

Tax Link prepares compiled statements for your use; we are not a CPA firm and do not issue audited or reviewed financial statements. See all of our bookkeeping services in Clearwater.

How it works

  1. Call 678-614-4636. Iris asks about your business, your accounts and how far behind the books are, then quotes a monthly price.
  2. She visits your business to set up access, collect records and learn how you work. Many clients prefer an after-hours visit.
  3. Each month she updates and reconciles the books and sends a short report. Questions get answered by phone or at your next visit.

What it costs

Reconciliation and reports are included in monthly bookkeeping. As a standalone project, pricing starts at [reconciliation project price].

Iris's promises to you

Inviting someone into your home or business takes trust. Here is what Iris promises every client:

  • You know the price before she starts. No surprise fees at the end.
  • Your documents never leave your sight. She scans what she needs at your table, works on an encrypted laptop and hands your originals back before she leaves.
  • Every line is explained in your language. Plain English or Spanish, so you know exactly what you signed.
  • No waiting room, ever. She comes to your home or business at the time you choose, Monday to Saturday from 8 to 6.
  • If the IRS writes later, she reads it with you. The same woman-owned business that did the work answers the follow-up.

Questions people ask before they call

How often should accounts be reconciled?

Monthly. Waiting longer makes errors harder to trace and fraud slower to catch.

My lender wants audited statements. Can you do that?

No. Audited and reviewed statements must come from a CPA firm. Iris can prepare your books so the audit goes faster and costs less.

Can you explain my reports to me?

Yes. That's part of the service. Iris will walk through them in English or Spanish.

Do you reconcile loans and merchant accounts too?

Yes. Every balance on your balance sheet should tie to a statement, not just the bank account.

Can you give my reports to my lender directly?

With your written permission, yes.

What does "reconciled" actually mean?

It means every transaction in your books matches the bank or card statement for the month, and the ending balances agree to the penny.
